Worker Screening Renewals: A Provider's 90-Day Checklist

An NDIS Worker Screening Check is valid for 5 years. Workers can apply to renew up to 90 days before expiry. If a worker's clearance lapses, you cannot lawfully roster them into a risk-assessed role.

Here's the simple sequence:

Day −90

Pull a list of every worker whose clearance expires in the next 90 days. Send each worker a reminder to lodge their renewal. Log the reminder in your training register.

Day −60

Confirm each worker has lodged their renewal. If they haven't, follow up. If they're not renewing, plan their last shift before the expiry date.

Day −30

Check each worker's status in the portal. Update your register when new clearances finalise. Escalate any still pending.

Day 0

If a clearance has expired and the renewal isn't through, the worker cannot work in a risk-assessed role from that date. No exceptions.

Auditors will sample workers and check current clearance, evidence you monitored expiries, and what you did when clearances lapsed.
